The rooms
Custom closets and cabinetry, room by room
We design and build custom closets and cabinetry for 6 rooms of the house, in Nashville and 34 communities across Middle Tennessee. Every room starts with a design consultation and ends with installation by professional carpenters.

See the roomWhat every room gets
Every project runs through the same 4 steps, from a single reach-in closet to a run of rooms: the consultation, a design drawn to the room’s own measurements, the build, and the installation. Our process sets out each one.
Finishes come from one range across the house. The 8 looks, from walnut and brass to matte black and walnut, work for a pantry or a media wall as well as a dressing room, so a house can carry one finish from the primary closet to the bar.
The company is the upgraded line of National Closet Company, which builds closets, pantries, garage storage and cabinets across Middle Tennessee from Gallatin. This line takes that work into the houses of Belle Meade, Forest Hills, Brentwood and Franklin, with materials sourced for it and installers who have done higher-end work.
More than one room
One room often turns up a second that needs the same thought: the pantry off the kitchen, the mudroom by the garage door. One consultation can cover several rooms, designed together so the finishes agree from one to the next.

Questions about the rooms
Which rooms do you design and build?
Six: walk-in closets and dressing rooms, pantries, home offices, built-ins and custom cabinetry, laundry rooms and mudrooms, and garages. Each has its own page on this site with what goes into it, and one consultation can take in more than one of them.
Are custom closets worth it?
For a closet you use every day, usually yes. A custom closet is drawn to the room’s own measurements, so it uses the full wall height and the corners a kit leaves empty, and it is built from premium materials and fitted by carpenters, so it is built once rather than replaced.
What is the difference between custom and semi-custom cabinets?
Semi-custom cabinets are factory boxes in standard sizes, with a choice of doors and finishes and a few modified widths. Custom cabinets are built to the room’s measurements, with the size, depth and layout of every box decided in the design. Every cabinet we install is custom.
When does a room need custom cabinetry?
When the room is not a standard size, the walls are out of square, the ceiling is tall, or the cabinets have to match a finish elsewhere in the house. Those are the rooms where stock boxes leave gaps and filler strips, and where cabinets made to the measurements earn their place.
Can one consultation cover several rooms?
Yes, and rooms that share a finish are best designed together: a primary closet and the bath cabinetry beside it, or a pantry and the mudroom off the garage. The design treats them as a set, so the doors, hardware and wood agree from one room to the next.
